I’m a little out of touch, but give me one LA who’s moved their email from a .gov.uk or gcsx.gov.uk to gmail… anyone? I’d love to talk to an authority that has gone through that process…

Salesforce? Again – I’m out of touch but I remember in the not too distant past a local authority having battles with the Information Commissioner over wanting to use cloud technology that had back up servers in the USA and this was hitting problems with UK DPA requirements in the view of the ICO…

Have these barriers now been removed? are the ICO now more encouraging of cloud tech and non-government email provision? Is there a Gmail solution to the .gcsx / .gov.uk issue? (as I understand it being that LAs are required to have these on the end of their email addresses)

What am I ignorant of? Has the world moved on 🙂

A real dose of common sense! The question is why don’t more LAs adopt this?
