But<\/span> one thing is for certain<\/span>:<\/span> business leaders <\/span>will require <\/span>flexibility to <\/span>respond to <\/span>the <\/span>impact <\/span>of<\/span> the UK leav<\/span>ing\u00a0<\/span>the European Union<\/span> (EU)<\/span> next year<\/span>. <\/span>So i<\/span>t is <\/span>likely <\/span>that<\/span> the upheaval of <\/span>Brexit will <\/span>contribute to increased <\/span>adoption of cloud-based services as <\/span>organisations <\/span>continue to<\/span> prepare <\/span>themselves for a potentially turbulent <\/span>environment. This is echoed by<\/span> TechMarketView <\/span>which recently <\/span>reported that 50% of the UK enterprise software market will be S<\/span>oftware <\/span>a<\/span>s <\/span>a<\/span> S<\/span>ervice (Saas) <\/span>by 2021<\/span>, double what it is today. <\/span>Indeed, <\/span>organisations<\/span> are<\/span> increasingly<\/span> dependent on technology <\/span>to serve <\/span>ever-more <\/span>demanding users, <\/span>and <\/span>will <\/span>therefore <\/span>spend<\/span> more on software and cloud-based services that offer greater flexibility and <\/span>future proofing<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since 2013,<\/span> the <\/span>g<\/span>overnment<\/span> has had a very clear <\/span>statement that any new <\/span>IT <\/span>project should consider <\/span>a <\/span>cloud<\/span>–<\/span>first<\/span> approach,<\/span> above all other solutions<\/span>,<\/span> as part of<\/span> its\u00a0<\/span>Cloud First policy<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>Despite this,<\/span> a recent\u00a0<\/span>Eduserv report<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>suggests progress towards a ‘cloud first’ policy is slow, with <\/span>only 40% <\/span>of local authorities saying that<\/span> they have a cloud policy or strategy in place.<\/span>At the same time, <\/span>a new report from Solar winds showed 77% of public sector respondents considered cloud the most important technology in their current strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n
