How do you build a sustainable, respected, high performing and profitable business <\/span>with<\/span>in the disruptive <\/span>D<\/span>igital <\/span>and IT marketplace<\/span>? We operate within a <\/span>landscape<\/span> defined by a dire shortage of skills; a large contracting and gigging<\/span> workforce that often doesn\u2019t seek stable employment;<\/span> permanent staff with an average tenure of <\/span>just 18 to 24 months;<\/span> a large proporti<\/span>on of companies driven by short-<\/span>term profits that will poach aggressively for the skills they need but don\u2019t invest in training; <\/span>expectations of high pay, generous benefits and flexible working; the emergence of <\/span>new technologies that require <\/span>people <\/span>to <\/span>be regularly <\/span>re-train<\/span>ed<\/span> and re-skill<\/span>ed.<\/span> \u00a0<\/span>When you add this to the prevailing political, societal and environmental uncertainty, h<\/span>ow does a business create stability, become sustainable and remain profitable?<\/span><\/p>\n

We found our solution to this problem by starting with our people and our purpose.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following the last staff conference, o<\/span>ur people got together to <\/span>work <\/span>on better describing <\/span>\u2018what we stand for\u2019 at Informed Solutions.<\/span> Identifying and agreeing not j<\/span>ust what we do and how we do it,<\/span> but <\/span>also <\/span>what drives and motivates <\/span>us <\/span>to <\/span>work together to <\/span>take on big challenges<\/span>. <\/span>After some <\/span>lively debate<\/span>, <\/span>we <\/span>agreed that <\/span>(<\/span>to us<\/span>)<\/span> \u2018making a difference\u2019 <\/span>professionally <\/span>meant <\/span>using our skills and capabilities to benefit others, as well as ourselves<\/span>. \u00a0We defined the<\/span> purpose <\/span>behind our business <\/span>as <\/span>aiming<\/span> to create<\/span> economic and social value by helping build a more inclusive, fair and safe society through the ethical use of technology and data, and by investing in innovation and<\/span> digital skills for the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

This <\/span>brainstorming <\/span>help<\/span>ed <\/span>our teams <\/span>converge on<\/span> and articulate <\/span>the \u2018why\u2019<\/span> that drive<\/span>s <\/span>Informed Solutions<\/span>; <\/span>influenc<\/span>ing <\/span>and shap<\/span>ing <\/span>our workplace environment, <\/span>the<\/span> way we <\/span>do business with others, and the <\/span>ethics<\/span> behind <\/span>the solutions<\/span> and service<\/span>s<\/span> that we <\/span>develop<\/span> for <\/span>clients. <\/span>Moreover, <\/span>it became clear that this purpose underlines <\/span>our<\/span> culture of <\/span>respect, <\/span>support<\/span>, <\/span>collaboration <\/span>and commitment; offered to <\/span>everyone that we work with<\/span>,<\/span> from o<\/span>ur <\/span>own <\/span>people and <\/span>alliance <\/span>partners<\/span>, <\/span>to <\/span>the clients<\/span> and <\/span>stakeholders <\/span>that we <\/span>serve<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

When you <\/span>set out to build a sustainable business<\/span>, <\/span>your <\/span>people<\/span>, alliance partners<\/span> and the communities<\/span> you are part of <\/span>become <\/span>as important as the clients that you work for.<\/span> We\u2019ve <\/span>built<\/span> a <\/span>modern, egalitarian <\/span>company <\/span>where <\/span>highly skilled <\/span>people<\/span> who <\/span>are <\/span>well-paid<\/span>, well trained<\/span> and <\/span>benefit from <\/span>a flexible working framework, also<\/span> appreciate the need to be <\/span>great <\/span>colleagues<\/span>; trustworthy, competent, <\/span>reliable, <\/span>committed and <\/span>team-spirited<\/span>.<\/span> \u00a0<\/span>In the competitive IT and Digital sectors, where <\/span>money is the currency on which most relationships are judged, and w<\/span>h<\/span>ere current <\/span>skills are often valued more <\/span>highly <\/span>than people, w<\/span>e <\/span>are <\/span>f<\/span>inding a <\/span>way to <\/span>create<\/span> balance<\/span>, respect, <\/span>trust, loyalty <\/span>and more enjoyable workplace <\/span>dynamics<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

This <\/span>approach to <\/span>building modern <\/span>professional relationships enables us to maintain <\/span>strong, <\/span>enduring working partnerships<\/span> between people<\/span>. <\/span>Where the average length of employment <\/span>for permanent staff <\/span>in our sector is only 1<\/span>8<\/span> to 24 <\/span>months, at Informed Solutions <\/span>the average tenure is 7 years. \u00a0<\/span>Each <\/span>year, w<\/span>e also <\/span>typically <\/span>take on an additional 10% of headcount in graduate associates and work placements, paying it forward to the next generation of professionals by investing in and <\/span>up-<\/span>skilling people <\/span>f<\/span>or the jobs of the future.<\/span><\/p>\n
