{"id":30953,"date":"2020-01-07T21:25:35","date_gmt":"2020-01-07T21:25:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/digileaders.com\/?p=30953"},"modified":"2020-07-08T21:34:09","modified_gmt":"2020-07-08T20:34:09","slug":"impact-awards-entries-show-strength-of-uk-tech-for-good","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/digileaders.com\/impact-awards-entries-show-strength-of-uk-tech-for-good\/","title":{"rendered":"Impact Awards entries show strength of UK tech for good"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entries for the <a href=\"https:\/\/impact-awards.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">DigitalAgenda Impact Awards<\/a> closed before Christmas, with a record 510 nominations and 339 submissions from a wide range of UK tech for good initiatives.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The quality and breadth of this year\u2019s entries demonstrates the increasing strength of the social impact technology sector in the UK.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Entries have come from all over the UK, with more than half of this year\u2019s cohort coming from outside of London. Encouragingly for the UK-wide impact economy, we have seen applications from Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Newcastle, Belfast, Cambridge and Oxford, as well as smaller towns around the country.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applications were made across <a href=\"https:\/\/impact-awards.co.uk\/categories\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">12 categories<\/a>, including the new categories aimed at individuals: Impact Investor and Tech for Good Entrepreneur.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3030 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/digitalagenda.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/ImpactAwards-174-2.jpg\" alt=\"finalists at the impact awards\" width=\"3500\" height=\"2333\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The \u2018Health\u2019 category received the most applications, implying that UK HealthTech startups are continuing to innovate to be some of the best in the world. The \u2018Social Transformation\u2019 category was also well subscribed, showing that UK organisations are also making great progress in using technology to solve societal problems.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/impact-awards.co.uk\/judges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Impact Awards judging panel<\/a> is now tasked with the difficult job of shortlisting the entries. Our judges, who come from a wide range of sectors and industries, will assess against five criteria: idea, product, team, scalability and impact.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finalists will be announced on the 30th of January, with the opening of the \u2018People\u2019s Choice\u2019 vote. The public will then be able to vote for their favourite initiative over all twelve categories, with the highly coveted \u2018People\u2019s Choice\u2019 award given out during the reception on awards night. Last year\u2019s winner was the Sharing Economy finalist \u2018BorrowMyDoggy\u2019, a platform on which \u2018borrowers\u2019 can discover and look after dogs in their neighbourhood.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The winners of the 2020 DigitalAgenda Impact Awards will be announced on the 5th of March at the iconic Oval Space in east London. Awards guests will join senior-level entrepreneurs, investors, academics, journalists and more, along with award finalists, guests and members of the growing UK-wide DigitalAgenda Network for a celebration of the digital innovations that make the world a better place.
