While some perceive AI as daunting, real-world applications <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">demonstrate its tangible benefits. The key is in identifying the right challenges <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0and leveraging AI to address them effectively.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>A Recent Success Story from the Department for Work and Pensions <\/b><b>\u00a0(DWP)\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a recent post, I highlighted how Helen Wylie, CTO of DWP Digtal, and her <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">team were able to utilise AI alongside a pre-existing robotic process automation <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(RPA) system: An RPA system introduced seven years ago has been categorising <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">22,000 daily letters into a high-level priority order. However, some urgent cries <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for help occasionally slipped through the net and were not addressed as quickly <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as desired. Recently, an AI tool was implemented to add contextual analysis to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">each letter, ensuring that these cries for help are now pushed to the top of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">priority list. This simple example illustrates how AI can seamlessly integrate <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">into everyday operations, reducing manual workload and improving customer <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0experience.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Shifting the Meta: The Role of Platform Discovery\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A common theme across many talks at Digitech24 was the critical need to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">assess the organisational landscape to identify kinks before embarking on AI <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">projects. A comprehensive platform piscovery provides a full view of platform <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">performance, helping identify where AI can drive improvements\u2014or where <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">alternative solutions like better content design and an effective information <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0architecture might suffice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rather than seeing AI as just a tool, consider it an enabler that unlocks untapped <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">potential. We emphasise platform discovery to uncover areas where AI can <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">streamline processes, cut costs, and enhance service delivery.
